Kep: Cambodia's Quiet Coastal Jewel
Fresh Blue Crab & Kampot Pepper.
Quiet, sleepy, and relaxing (not a party town).
30 mins from Kampot / 3.5 hours from Phnom Penh.
Nestled next to its bustling neighbor Kampot, the small coastal province of Kep offers a completely different experience. Known for its Art Deco ruins, wide sidewalks, and world-famous crab market, Kep is the place you go to slow down, disconnect, and eat very, very well.
3 Things You Must Do
1. The Crab Market
This is the soul of Kep. Watch fishermen haul in bamboo traps full of blue crabs. Buy a kilo and have it stir-fried with green Kampot Pepper right there. It is messy, spicy, and unforgettable.
2. Kep Beach
Kep's beach is a man-made crescent of golden sand. It is popular with local families on weekends who rent mats to picnic under the shade. On weekdays, it is delightfully empty and peaceful.
3. Rabbit Island (Koh Tonsay)
Take a 25-minute boat ride ($8 return) to this rustic island. There is no electricity (mostly) and no cars—just simple bungalows, hammocks, and fresh coconuts. It is a true island escape.
Pro Tip: The National Park
Don't just look at the ocean—look up! Kep National Park offers an easy 8km loop trail called the "Stairway to Heaven." It is a gentle jungle walk that offers incredible sunset views over the ocean and Vietnam's Phu Quoc island.

Ready to Relax?
Kep is one of the few places in Cambodia where "doing nothing" is the main attraction. Book a bungalow with a hammock and enjoy the silence.
