Pro-Tips for a Perfect Afternoon

  • Arrival Time: Get there around 4:30 PM. This gives you time to pick your favorite grilled chicken and find a mat before the sun starts to drop.
  • The Mat Culture: Don't look for a table! On the banks of the lake, you can rent a woven mat for a few thousand riel. Sitting on the ground, sharing food "Khmer style," is the only way to do it.
  • Must Order: Look for the stalls with the most smoke—that's where the best grilled frog and stuffed chicken are. Always ask for extra "Koh Kong" dipping sauce (chili, lime, and garlic).
  • Price Check: A whole grilled chicken usually costs between $6 - $8 USD and can easily feed 2-3 people. It's the best budget dinner in the temple park!

Finding the spot: Head to the eastern side of Srah Srang (the side with the stone lions). The stalls are lined up right along the road!
