Banteay Chhmar Temple
A massive temple complex hidden deep in the north, famous for its 32-armed Avalokiteshvara carvings and face towers similar to the Bayon.
It is very remote. Bring lunch! The best carvings are on the outer wall on the east side.
Located 60km north of Sisophon. The road is paved. You can hire a taxi from Sisophon market.
Ang Trapeang Thmor (Crane Reserve)
The primary feeding ground for the rare Eastern Sarus Crane. It is also a massive reservoir built during the Khmer Rouge era.
Best visited from January to May (dry season) when the birds congregate. Early morning (6 AM) is essential.
Located 50km east of Sisophon. The road can be dusty.
Phnom Svay & Phnom Bak
The 'Twin Mountains' of Sisophon offering panoramic sunset views over the flat plains. A popular exercise spot for locals.

Phnom Srok Silk Villages
Visit the traditional homes where Cambodia's finest golden silk is woven. Phnom Srok is legendary for preserving the ancient ikat (hol) weaving techniques.
Ask to see the silkworms being fed mulberry leaves. It is best to go in the morning when the weavers are most active under their houses.
Located near the Ang Trapeang Thmor reservoir. It is about 50km east of Sisophon. Best combined with a birdwatching trip.

A set of ancient brick towers located on a hill within a modern pagoda grounds. It offers a unique mix of ancient history and active Buddhist life.

Located about 15km south of Sisophon on the road to Battambang. Look for the colorful gate of Wat Banteay Neang.
Cheung Krouh (Victory Park)
A beautifully landscaped garden and reservoir built near the Thai border. It features flower gardens, paddle boats, and bamboo huts for picnicking.
This is very popular for wedding photography. Go on weekdays if you want quiet; go on weekends to see local life in full swing.
