Troav Kot Lake: Siem Reap's Lotus Oasis
Ballangk Commune (30km from Siem Reap).
45-60 mins by Tuk-Tuk or Motorbike.
Lotus Season (Late Rainy Season/Early Dry).
Forget the temples for a moment and dive into the local weekend lifestyle. Troav Kot (sometimes spelled Trav Kot) is a beautiful eco-tourism lake located northeast of Siem Reap city. Famous for its endless fields of pink lotus flowers and rustic wooden walkways, it is the ultimate spot for a relaxing countryside picnic.
Why Locals Love It
The Wooden Bridge
The main attraction is the long, rustic wooden bridge that meanders right over the water. It is the perfect spot for photos, especially when the lotus flowers are in full bloom on either side.
Floating Bamboo Huts
Like a true Cambodian resort, the lake is lined with bamboo huts built on stilts over the water. Renting one for the afternoon is cheap and gives you a private base to eat, nap, and hang out.
Pedal Boats
Want to get on the water? You can rent "Duck Boats" (pedal boats) to cruise around the lake. It is a huge hit with kids and couples looking for a romantic sunset activity.
🍗 The Famous Roast Chicken
You cannot visit Troav Kot without eating! The specialty here is Roast Chicken (Moan Ang). The chickens are usually free-range "local" chickens, meaning the meat is firmer and more flavorful than supermarket chicken. Order a whole bird with spicy dip and a pile of rice!
The Perfect Combo Trip
Troav Kot is located in the same general direction as Banteay Srei (The Pink Temple). We recommend visiting the temple in the morning and then heading to the lake for a relaxing lunch and swim.
