Why It’s an Epic Journey
The Snake Road
The engineering here is incredible. The road twists and turns like a snake through the virgin jungle. Every corner offers a new viewpoint of the rolling green Cardamom hills.
Cloud Surfing
Visit during the Rainy Season (June–Oct). If you reach the summit by 6:00 AM, the valleys below are often filled with a thick white "Sea of Clouds."
Pure Nature
This is one of the last true wilderness areas in Cambodia. You'll drive past hidden waterfalls and deep valleys where the air is perfectly crisp and cool.
💡 Local Insider Tips
1. The Photo Spot: The most famous photo spot (where you can see the S-curves of the road) is located right at the Phnom 1500 Sign. There is a small parking area where you can pull over safely.
2. Fuel & Food: Fill your gas tank in Pursat town! Gas stations and restaurants are very rare once you start the climb. Veal Veng is the last town with basic guest houses and local eateries before you reach the Thai border.
3. Brake Safety: If you are driving a car, use your engine to brake on the way down. The descent is very steep, and you don't want to overheat your brakes!
Ready to drive? Phnom 1500 is the ultimate proof that in Cambodia, sometimes the journey really is the destination.
