The Royal Palace: A Glimpse of Splendor
Gleaming in gold and standing majestically on the riverfront, the Royal Palace is the most striking landmark in Phnom Penh. Built in 1866, it serves as the official residence of King Sihamoni. While the King's living quarters are private, visitors can explore the magnificent Throne Hall and the sacred Silver Pagoda complex.

What You Will See
The Throne Hall
The centerpiece of the complex. Used for coronations and meeting foreign diplomats. Look for the exquisite ceiling frescoes and the golden throne under the 59-meter tower.
The Silver Pagoda
Named after its floor, which is covered in 5,329 solid silver tiles. Inside sits the "Emerald Buddha" and a life-sized gold Buddha encrusted with 9,584 diamonds.
Napoleon III Pavilion
A strange sight! This iron building looks totally European. It was actually a gift from Emperor Napoleon III of France to the Cambodian King in 1876.
