It is a must-do for any traveler looking to escape the tourist bubble.
What to Do on Road 60
Eat Like a Local
This is a foodie's dream. Try the famous Grilled Frog (stuffed with pork and spices), roasted chicken, or nom banh chok (Khmer noodles). For the brave, there are plenty of crispy insects!
The Picnic Culture
Do as the locals do: rent a woven straw mat ($1), buy a spread of food from the stalls, and sit on the grass. It is the classic Cambodian way to socialize with friends and family.
The Funfair
At the end of the road lies a retro amusement park. With neon-lit Ferris wheels, bumper cars, and balloon darts, it has a nostalgic, old-school charm that is great for photos.
Pro Tips
- Bring Small Cash: Vendors here rarely have change for $20 or $50 bills. Bring plenty of small Riel notes or $1 bills.
- Hygiene: The food here is generally safe because it is cooked fresh over high heat (grills). Stick to the hot items!
- Shopping: The night market section sells clothes and shoes at local prices—often half of what you pay at the Old Market.
