Chamka Turain: The Samlot Durian Resort

A Delicious Escape from Battambang

Fresh durian fruit for sale at a Cambodian market.

Perfect For...

  • 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦Local Picnics
  • 🍈Durian Lovers
  • 🌊River Swimming

Deep in the lush, green landscape of the Samlot Protected Area lies Chamka Turain (The Durian Farm). Famous for its red volcanic soil, this region produces the most prized fruit in Cambodia. This natural resort offers the perfect escape for a day of eating, swimming, and relaxing by the cold mountain stream.

Things to Do

🛖

Rent a Kiosk

The resort features bamboo huts built directly over the flowing stream. It is the ultimate spot to nap or eat lunch with the sound of water rushing beneath you.

❄️

The Cold Plunge

Warning: The water here comes straight from the Cardamom Mountains. It is crystal clear but shockingly cold! It is the perfect antidote to the Cambodian heat.

🍈

Fruit Tasting

Don't just eat the Durian! Try the Samlot Rambutan and Mangosteen. The mineral-rich soil here makes them sweeter and juicier than anywhere else.

👑 The King of Fruits Season

You can visit year-round for swimming, but if you want the famous Durian, you must come during the harvest:

MAY - AUGUST

Tip: Prices are lower here than in the city markets!

🚗 Getting There

Distance: Samlot is about 84km from Battambang town (approx. 2.5 hours).

The Road: The road is paved but can be dusty (the famous red dust of Samlot). If you ride a motorbike, wear sunglasses and a mask to protect your clothes!

Cost: Free entry. You pay for parking (2000 Riel) and hut rental ($3-$5 depending on size).
